In some instances patients can be cut out of a car with simple hand tools. Commonly used for this purpose are the following:

• Hammer – Useful for bending metal or prying
• Center punch – useful for breaking tempered glass
• Pry Bar – Useful for prying a door open
• Hack Saw – Useful for making a larger opening by cutting away metal parts
• Come Along – Winch used pull doors or a steering wheel off the patient.
