Foreign Body In The Eye
Published .
When a foreign body finds it’s way into a patient’s eyes, the patient is in a world of pain. Objects could include dust, dirt, or chemicals. The patient will complain of pain, tearing, redness, and blurry vision.
To flush the patient’s eye, the medics can get the patient to lay flat and tilt the head towards the affected side so debris or chemicals do not flow into the unaffected eye. To hold the eye open, the medics can apply pressure to the bones around the eye (without applying pressure to the eye) then flush the eye for 15 minutes with water or normal saline.
